here it is, a case of me. it's up to you to drink it. all at once or little by little.

december again

That was a long hiatus
Due to writing this time
It's coming along nicely
And december's almost here again

The decorations are already up in the streets
The light about to go on
Plans to get a christmas tree made
Lists were done yesterday

And then my new year's resolution:
To keep up the good work
'Cause sometimes things are good as they are
Now then I'm off for a cup of hot chocolate.

new year's resolutions (update)

I had only two and am proud to say I realised about 50% of them - I can be found at the fitness center at least twice a week, these days. And seeing that we're only just past halfway the year, I have all the time in the world to get round to the other 50%: eat rabbit food only.

art (2)

just so you'd know: the vandals have finally caved in (see my previous post on art): a few of the plastic windows have holes now
a few others have condensation fluid trapped inside them; humidity has done it's job as well

apparently there's nothing they can do to fix them. apart from a bad taste in art (paid with my tax money), the city council also has a useless building contractor (paid with my tax money), which they will now sue (probably with the help of an equally useless lawyer, paid with my tax money).

lists (5) : books i've been reading while i was away

FICTION - CLASSICS:
decamerone by giovanni boccaccio - very old but funny stories still, i read them one at a time before i would go to bed

FICTION - ADULTS
the little friend by donna tartt - i loved the prologue but lost interest afterwards
the time traveller's wife by audrey niffenegger - a lovely story, well-written
the life of pi by yann martel - wonderful book (which is much better than lovely, this is really a must-read, it's fantastic)
the sensationist by charles palliser (well-written, loved the atmosphere)
a sunday at the pool in kigali by gilles courtemanche - touching novel, a must-read

FICTION - CHILDREN
the curious incident of the dog in the nighttime by mark haddon - THIS YOU MUST READ, the most touching and wonderfully written book i've read in years

PHANTASY - CHILDREN
harry potter and the half blood prince by j k rowling, of course, hooked, loved it
his dark materials trilogy by philip pullmann, definitely worth the read

THRILLERS (hey, it's the holidays)
the obvious stuff by dan brown (yes, yes,the da vinci code) and nicci french (don't read too much of those if you like feeling comfortable walking alone at night). some basic holiday reading which keeps you busy, but i'd prefer potter any time, thrilling enough for me and much more intelligent and funny

wings

Time has grown wings in these past few months.
And I've been reading tons of books, which is of course one very good way to make sure those wings grow fast.
They lie on the shelf, lent to me or given as a birthday present, fatally attracting me. Dragging me into their parallel universes before I've even turned the first page.
Unlike Narnia, these universes do not return you to your own world at the exact time you left it. Also unlike Aslan's universe (and all the better for me),one is allowed to return to them at any age. At any time. At will. Or at fatal attraction...

new year's resolutions

- eat less unhealthy food
- do more sports

gonna leave it at that. to make more would be to jeopardize all chances of my sticking to them.

it's official now

...i'm a nerd.

or, as i prefer to call it, an 'intellectual' or 'bookish' person.

i took two character quizzes and they officially confirmed what my friends have always told me (but which i preferred to ignore) :

you're ross...even though you whine a lot, your
friends can see through it to the genuinely
intelligent and caring person you are on the
inside...usually.

which Friends character are you?
brought to you by Quizilla

Which HP Kid Are You?

in case the pictures don't show: i am 'ross' in friends and 'hermione' from the harry potter series.

intelligent, helpful, but slightly annoying sometimes

no more denial

will start wearing glasses tomorrow

now that i mention it: neither ross nor hermione wears glasses. interesting!

will start wearing them anyway, books have ruined my eye-sight...

inspiration

... does not exist. every great work is just like your average work:
it takes hard work, determination and perseverance

i must say that i'm not really good at either three of those things
but at least i'm honest in not blaming 'the Muze' for my own shortcomings

10 things i like about winter
- wearing mittens (and it's such a lovely word!)
