lists (5) : books i've been reading while i was away

FICTION - CLASSICS:
decamerone by giovanni boccaccio - very old but funny stories still, i read them one at a time before i would go to bed

FICTION - ADULTS
the little friend by donna tartt - i loved the prologue but lost interest afterwards
the time traveller's wife by audrey niffenegger - a lovely story, well-written
the life of pi by yann martel - wonderful book (which is much better than lovely, this is really a must-read, it's fantastic)
the sensationist by charles palliser (well-written, loved the atmosphere)
a sunday at the pool in kigali by gilles courtemanche - touching novel, a must-read

FICTION - CHILDREN
the curious incident of the dog in the nighttime by mark haddon - THIS YOU MUST READ, the most touching and wonderfully written book i've read in years

PHANTASY - CHILDREN
harry potter and the half blood prince by j k rowling, of course, hooked, loved it
his dark materials trilogy by philip pullmann, definitely worth the read

THRILLERS (hey, it's the holidays)
the obvious stuff by dan brown (yes, yes,the da vinci code) and nicci french (don't read too much of those if you like feeling comfortable walking alone at night). some basic holiday reading which keeps you busy, but i'd prefer potter any time, thrilling enough for me and much more intelligent and funny
